Archiving for migrations service
The size of your database is a key factor for successfully moving from an SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) package to SAP S/4HANA®. Smaller databases provide many benefits in migrating systems.
It's therefore a good idea to use the service that archives and removes the data no longer used before migration.
Overview
To fully benefit from SAP HANA--the in-memory data processing platform that serves as the architectural foundation of SAP S/4HANA®--customers are required to archive and delete data that is no longer in use prior to SAP S/4HANA® migration. Removing unneeded databases reduces downtime during migration and increases the amount of database space and memory available after migration.

After SAP S/4HANA® migration
Reducing the amount of data to be migrated cuts downtime during migration and increases the usable space of SAP S/4HANA® database and memory.
